>> iMOVE-Trade Mission to the iMOVE/ITC/AHK-Workshop in Cairo, September, 2007
>> The potential for the future of German-Egyptian cooperation in the field of vocational training is great
The Workshop, which was held in Cairo during the first week of September 2007, revealed a tremendous amount of interest in Vocational Training and Continuing Education from both German and Egyptian parties.
The backdrop for the Workshop, which was organized by iMOVE, together with the Industrial Training Council (ITC) and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK) in Cairo, was the modernization and reformation of Egypt’s Vocational Training and Continuing Education structure.
Since 2006, the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade has commissioned the ITC to develop and implement practical and job-market oriented training strategies through discussions with business and vocational training institutions.
The objective of the Workshop was to identify how Egyptian-German co-operations could help to implement these strategies for the future. Numerous discussions pertaining to co-operation were held.
15 German training providers presented their exportable services to a large Egyptian audience. The German delegation presented vocational training and continuing education proposals for vocations in business and trade, as well as in areas of social work.
Apart from individual company presentations, direct matchmaking discussions were also organized. This allowed German representatives to enter into personal discussions with their Egyptian counterparts, in order to discuss joint project ideas.
Based on these initial discussions, all of the participants agreed that there is great potential for cooperation, which now needs to be realized. The actual task of "egyptianizing" German vocational training and continuing education modules and to structure these in a competitive and demand-oriented manner, begins now.
A follow-up workshop in Germany is planned for 2008.
